Pizza Coming Soon
Hi. Frank here from T&S Tours.
The Simpsons is my favourite series. Yeah, the latest seasons really struggle to keep my attention, but the classics are just incredible. You ever find yourself in a moment that reminds you of an iconic Simpsons scene? I had a moment today.
Nothing special about my Saturday evening, other than my creativity was really put to test as I was excited to put together some new home office furniture. I picked up whatever was on sale at Wayfair as I desperately needed to upgrade my desk after spending the entire pandemic working off my shitty kitchen counter. And yes, when it was all said and done, I had the “why doesn’t mine look like that?!” Simpsons moment.
Whatever. I think my desk turned out fine considering I was short a few screws (their fault, for sure. I looked everywhere. Thankfully, I pulled through with a little Gorilla Glue) and it wasn’t “as advertised” on the site.
Anyway, I sparked and worked up an appetite. I crushed a few hours of hard labour, and there was no way I was going to reward myself with something from my fridge. Tonight, was pizza night. The perfect meal that can be stretched across a few days because there’s always extra.
I found an interesting joint while browsing, and in my haste, I set out to discover Pizza Coming Soon with the hopes that “soon” means it had “already arrived”? It had great reviews, so I figured I’d try it out. As I pulled up to place my order, I was surprised by how busy this place was… like way too busy for a pizza joint. Whipped out my phone and figured I could get be more efficient by browsing the menu and figuring out what I wanted now. And man, was I surprised when I pulled up their menu.
There’s no fucking pizza on this menu!
I felt so trolled, but I couldn’t help but laugh because it just made sense. Japanese Snack Bar? What the hell does that mean? I took this as a sign, however. I had a very creative day, so why not end it with a very creative meal.
The Main Event
This place was so dope. I honestly didn’t know what to expect but was just blown away by the vibe. Felt like I was in a retro restaurant reminiscent of something you’d fine in California, but these guys were slinging some quality Japanese snacks and drinks.
With my pizza craving a distant memory, I decided to try a variety of items:
- Grilled Whole Squid with grated daikon, ponzu.
- Chicken Wings, hot with a side of ranch.
- Fries dusted with ramen powder and aanori seaweed, side of wasabi mayo.
- Gyudon, sliced beef, onions on a bed of white rice.

I started with the wings and squid. Fucking awesome. But then again, I’ve never had a bad chicken wing in my life (#blessed), but the spice level was just right. And the ranch just cooled everything down to the right degree. The squid was also grilled to perfection, with he ponzu sauce adding the right amount of saltiness. It was a great appetizer considering it’s hard to find grilled squid that tastes this good.
And the ramen powder dusted fries were fried to perfection. The ramen powder just adds that depth that elevates the simple fry to new heights. Paired with the wasabi mayo, you get a fantastic zing that isn’t too overpowering. I think the fries should be (if it isn’t already) considered as one of their flagship items.
Finally, the Gyudon finished off the meal with some thinly sliced, well seasoned beef on a bed of rice. In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with beef on rice. The fine folks at Pizza Coming Soon knows what’s up.
Frank is comatose.
I didn’t know what to expect when I got here. Well, that’s a lie, I expected pizza. The last minute audible almost threw me off, but thankfully the fine people at Pizza Coming Soon helped me put together a great order. It was the perfect end to an intense day of manual labour. I highly suggest this joint when you are in the mood to visit a quirky environment that serves some seriously delicious food.
I give Pizza Coming Soon a 4.5 out of 5 and encourage you to take a trip and visit.
